Thu, 19 May 2005 It's 3:05 am and I just got back from a midnight show of the finale Star Wars movie... no I'm not going to give away the plot for all of you who haven't gone yet.. just gonna post a few observations that I have based on my trip.
Let me start by saying that I have been sucked into the world of Star Wars since I was 4.. hard to belive now at 29 here I am just as bad (25 years later!). As some of you may have heard I used to make my own Star Wars accessories as a kid (my mom talks about this on the new kj lp) I think I did this somewhat out of necessity (we didn't have a lot of money back then.. ) but I think mainly I did it cuz it was a creative outlet for me. Before I did music... way before that I used to draw (both of my parents are artists) and before I could even write.. I was drawing Star Wars .. Luke Skywalker etc.. in fact the first thing I can remember drawing was when I was 4 or so and it was a pretty good picture of Luke Skywalker holding out his blaster.
Anyway.. enuff of that.. the trilogy is over.. I have to say I like this one the best out the prequels. The special effects were tight, it wrapped up the story nicely and seque wayed into the first one and answered a lot of ?'s.
Me and the wifee got there at 11:15 for a good seat.. which the theater was almost packed by then.. but it was worth it, rather than being stuck in the nose bleeds section or plastered up front. Anyway.. it's late and I'm tired and not feeling that great on top of that so w/ no further ado here are my final thoughts and observations on the final Star Wars.
1. people who dress up in costume for a movie (which there was decent amount) have a lot of guts.. but more importantly must have a lot of guts to go out and buy it in the first place
2. Natalie Portman (padme Amidala) is struggling as an actress.. wowzers.. her delivery of her lines was a bit painfull at times.. sorry yall.. but i gotta be honest.
3. Waiting for 12am for a movie is insanity.. but it was worth it.. cmon.. you don't expect me to wait for the next day do you!
4. Movie theater snacks are outrageous in price.. the price is only matched by the ridiculous lines that we wait in to get them (3 dollars for a tiny diet coke.. cmon!)
5. The special effects were dopest in this one of the prequels..
6. How in the world does Obi Wan Kenobi keep his hair so perfect no mattter what he does?
7. Emperor Palpatine was off the hook.. Annakin did a better job acting this time around.. watching Annakin kill all the (nevermind.. ill skip that one so as not to spoil it) was sad.. the thing that Obi rides on (the animal) cracked me up.. seeing Annakin become Darth Vader was dope..YODA KICKS BUTT (nuff said)!!
8. Bringing a light saber to a movie takes lots of guts..
9. All of the late night is worth it if you can bring your wife and she's nice enuff to get you popcorn so you don't have to get up miss the movie
10. "May the force be w/ you" still sounds cool after 25 years!!
good night.. kj Category: general -- posted at: 3:21 AM Comments[38] |

Sun, 8 May 2005 Im sitting here on the runway for a minute (thanks houston for once again slowing me down.. ) and I'm mulling over yesterday. After ATF I had the chance to hang out w/ my cousin for a while.. for those that don't know my cousin was like my brother growing up.. I was an only child growing up till I was about 10 so he was a lot more like a brother than a cousin.
Anyway we got to kick it for most of the day.. he drove down from Denver and we got to catch up on a lot of things since we hadn't really seen eachother for a few years. I was done w/ Atf by 630 and so we decided to drive up in the mountains since I'ma florida boy and haven't really been able to expierience the mountains etc.. We stopped and snapped some pics and I got a crazy idea that I wanted to climb a rock (see picture) and take some shots.
Well the funny thing is that in the midst of this it reminded me how in some ways me and him are opposites (which is a good thing) he runs and jumps out on some rocks hanging 20 feet from the ground and he starts climbing them in SANDALS!! NO FEAR!! I'm standing to the side like ... "yeahhh oooohhhkaayyy" and then he's like "see I did it.. now you try". Keep in mind I'm slightly afraid of heights not to mention I've never climbed a rock in my life..
At one point I was like.. can't I stand over here and you can snatch the picture? He was sooo fearless and was like "just go for it". Anyway as you can tell I did it and I was glad I conqured my slight fear (smile..).
I just wanted to say Jon thanks for always diving in fearless and doing it.. while guys like me (mr. analyze the situation) stand and play it safe (which is good sometimes but ya know..) you inspire me to GO FOR IT!
I really enjoyed our time kicking it together at least for a few hrs.. your daughter is beautiful.. I'm proud of you bro. I pray for you daily and I felt like we were kids again .. (out camping w/ your mom and getting in trouble like always ha ha..)
Anyway.. just a little update.. no podcast this time since I'm on dial up and my connection keeps cutting out.
God bless yall

Wed, 4 May 2005 Ok.. allright.. thanks I know now. Yep that's right your boy Kj was on VH1's 40 least hip hop moments on VH1 and i placed at number 26 for writing for my Dear Slim song... yessssirrrr.
Where do I start... rather than share my feelings on the subject first let me tell you how I found out.. I'm sitting in the Chicago Airport in route to Cincinatti from LA.. we had like a ten minute layover so your boy Kj was trying to eat his ice cold Chilis chicken salad while DJ Morph and Jamie (my drummer) wandered around the terminal for 10 minutes. So I'm sitting there and all of a sudden my cell phone starts blowing up like crazy! One call after the other etc.. I didn't have a chance to grab the call so I let them go to vmail. I recognized one of the numbers as my man Jeff so I checked my vmail first before I was about to call him back..
He left a message saying.. "Don't stress them dissing you.. this will only help.. this is a good thing etc.." but he never said what he was talking about.. the strange thing is that the last time my phone was blowing up like this was when the whole MTV TRL junk happenend.. I actually had thought about that when my phone was ringing. Anyway I called him back like ... whats up? He expalined that he had just been watching and that VH1 had dissed me etc.. I was like ok... here we go again.
So how do I feel about the whole thing? A bit suprised really.. I was able to actually watch it and tape it for myself on Sunday night and after drinking it all in i was kind of scratching my head over the whole thing. I don't really want to go into my whole feelings on it right now mainly cuz I'm still mulling it all over. But i will say this.. I've already recorded a song telling my side of the story and we'll see what we are gonna do with it.
I will be elaborating about it further pretty soon.. if you want to check it out I think they are reairring it this week .. be warned there is some risque stuff on it too..
Oh and on a side note I watched the remaking of Vanilla Ice right after it.. hmmm I might have to go dust off my hammer pants... hmmm.
sincerly
